The National Curriculum brings various challenges for schools, not least in mid-term planning for core subjects, including English and mathematics, as well as assessment and early years.
To support this Herts for Learning has developed a suite of resources, Primary PA Plus, which contains core teaching, learning and assessment material focussed on the curriculum and provides new approaches to mid-term planning.
The resources are available to schools via a web subscription service, which enables all staff within a school to download the materials applicable to their teaching role from the Herts for Learning website.
By subscribing schools have access to *New* resources to support mid-term new curriculum planning for english and mathematics, supported by resources providing new guidance in assessment. Early years resources, appropriate for pre-school, nursery and reception children are also available.
Full details of the resources available and subscription costs are in the leaflet below:
Further resources will be added throughout 2015 and 2016. These include long term plans and assessment criteria for history and geography, exemplification for English and maths, booklists for poetry and non-fiction, a mental calculation policy plus updates for AM7.
At Herts for Learning we have developed new sets of detailed assessment criteria for reading, writing, mathematics, science and computing in the primary phase. These are matched to the expectations of the new National Curriculum and can be used by teachers to assess children’s understanding and determine the appropriate next steps.
A set of SIMS resources (Assessment Manager templates and SIMS reports) for tracking and analysing attainment and progress at cohort and vulnerable group level, as well as for individual pupils, are also provided as part of the package.
The full set of assessment criteria are available from within the Subscription area of this website. For an indication of what the criteria look like, see the sample resources below.
We have some sample resources for maths, english, assessment criteria and the computing scheme for primary schools available to download.
Schools are charged an annual fee to subscribe to Primary PA Plus, and are able to download all documents published during the period.
Offering fantastic value for money, the cost of subscribing this service is dependent on pupil numbers. Subscriptions are valid for 12-months from date of purchase.
