Confident Capable Children - the Early Years one day conference with keynote speaker Alice Sharp

Event date: 30 January 2018

Hertfordshire Development Centre, Stevenage

Confident Capable Children - Supporting emotional wellbeing in today's society to maximise achievement

This conference will focus on the importance of supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing to maximise achievement and is a must for teachers and early years practitioners working with children aged 3-5 years in nursery and reception classes.

There is currently a national focus on emotional wellbeing and improving outcomes, this is because a child’s social and emotional wellbeing provides the firm building blocks for personal development and lifelong learning. Nationally acclaimed speaker Alice Sharp, Managing Director of Experiential Play will share how the Early Years Foundation Stage can create a sense of nurture, wellbeing and resilience through play to impact positively on every child’s future.

Delegates will have the opportunity to attend workshops led by Alice Sharp, Paula Vale and Tracey Dawson, throughout the day that will explore the crucial role of the adult in supporting children’s Personal, Social and Emotional development, principles and benefits of applying mindfulness in the Early Years with strategies and activities to take back to the classroom.

During the day, the importance of recognising and responding to children’s emotions, reflecting on current research, self-regulation and brain development will be explored.

The aim of the conference will be to ensure that delegates:

  • understand the importance of children's emotional and social wellbeing as the foundation to establishing positive learning behaviours
  • explore strategies to support children's emotional wellbeing to raise their achievements
  • participate in workshops to explore successful approaches and activities that can be immediately applied in the classroom
