Write here, right now - Herts for Learning’s annual primary English conference

Event date: 25 January 2018

Writing for pleasure and purpose is at the very heart of this spring’s conference, giving teachers a long overdue opportunity to relish in discussion about the strategies, pedagogies and stimuli that will best promote a passion for writing amongst their pupils.

Multi award-winning children’s author, Jonathan Emmett, will provide a keynote speech. His many books, including “Monsters: an owner’s guide”, “The Santa Trap” and “Here Be Monsters”, are firm favourites amongst many of the Herts for Learning Primary English team, and have a proven record of firing up young writers to craft and create their own written masterpieces!

Bob Cox, award-winning author of the “Opening Doors to Literature” series, will join us to deliver a workshop focusing on inspiring children to write in response to engagement with great works of classic literature.

Another great workshop will be led by Martin Impey who has been a freelance illustrator over 20 years producing a huge variety of exciting children’s book, including Carnegie and Greenaway nominated text, “Where the Poppies Now Grow”.

Herts for Learning advisors will be on-hand throughout the day to provide the usual standard of high quality, and wide-ranging workshops. In addition, a fully stocked bookshop will be present, showcasing the best of children’s literature.
