Media training - Preparing you to confidently engage with the press

In response to requests from schools for professional media training, Herts for Learning is offering a bespoke in-school training day package for Headteachers, Governors and Senior Leadership Teams.

The training day will help school leaders use the media to effectively reach out to stakeholders and key target audiences to communicate the aims, objectives, goals and achievements of their school including how to:

  • recognise and seize opportunities to sell and promote your school and its achievements on radio and in the press
  • ensure that the story / interview runs by making the interview interesting and relevant to the media
  • prepare appropriately for media interviews
  • take control of an interview and return the story back to the points that you wish to make
  • work with the press in the event of a crisis
  • spot and predict journalists' hidden agendas and deal with this appropriately

This training programme can also be tailored to meet your own specific media training needs.

The training will be delivered by Andrew Carapiet, an experienced former BBC Local Government Correspondent, with a 15 year journalism career, including working on local newspapers, local radio stations, regional and national TV; mainly for the BBC.

The price for this specialist one day in-school media training session is £1200.00 for a maximum of 6 delegates.
