Places to Play Every Day – Nursery World Staff Resources Award 2017 finalist

Places to Play Every Day, published by Herts for Learning, for people working with children in Early Years settings, has been shortlisted for the annual Nursery World Awards 2017.

Places to Play Every Day was devised and written by Lucky Khera, Lead Early Years Adviser at Herts for Learning (HfL) and the HfL Early Years team to help practitioners create learning spaces that inspire, challenge and motivate children aged 3 – 5 in their pre-school and Early Years settings. The publication is based on research that found that a rich, varied and well-organised Early Years environment has a significant impact on children’s learning and development. Research has shown that when this is in place, children are encouraged to develop their confidence to independently explore, learn and foster a curiosity that will maximise progress.

The award nomination comes just weeks after the resource was given the Early Years Excellence 2017 4 star prize at the first ever Teach Early Years magazine’s Early Years Excellence Awards.

Speaking about the award nomination for Places to Play Every Day, Lucky Khera, Lead Early Years Adviser said:

I am absolutely delighted that we have now also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Nursery World Awards 2017 in the category of Staff Resources. This is a great recognition for a resource that is highly valued by those working with in Early Years settings.”

On hearing that the publication has received another award nomination, Mireille MacRaild, Education Services Director - Early Years, at Herts for Learning said:

We are delighted that the Places to Play Every Day publication has been recognised as a high-quality resource for practitioners working with children of this age in whatever kind of setting.”

The guidance and audit tools have been produced taking into account the needs of practitioners and teachers, I hope this shows that we always aim to listen and respond to the needs of the Early Years workforce we support. The aim is that the content is clear and easy to digest so that staff working with young children are able to have something to hand that will inspire and enable them to create an effective learning environment that supports development for children across the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.”
