Developing the role of the SENCo/INCO

ROLES: Middle leader, Senior leader.
PHASES: Early years, Post 16, Primary, Secondary.

Inclusion is now starting to become embedded in our school, rather than something the SENCo “does” in isolation. I now work with all staff and I am an active part of the senior leadership team. Teachers now take responsibility for all their pupils.”
Feedback from SENCo on the National Award for SEN Coordination course

The role of the SENCo/INCo is wide ranging and can be extremely daunting for those new to the role. Even for experienced SENCos, support and opportunities for increasing confidence and developing practice are essential.

To develop the role of your SENCo/INCo, we can offer:

  • induction and accredited training for new SENCos
  • courses for experienced SENCos to develop skills and confidence in all aspects of the role and provide a range of practical ideas to consider
  • tailored training/workshops for local clusters of SENCos
  • reviews of current school systems and support for their further development
  • updates and information sharing sessions
  • focused work in school to develop specific aspects of the SENCo role

We can design our consultancy and training to meet the needs of your school or a group of schools so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements.

Put the kettle on we’re coming to you!
