Anne works for Herts for Learning in a joint role of Head of School Recruitment Services (Teach in Herts) and as a School Business Management Consultant for SBM services. Prior to this role, Anne carried out the role as a business manager at a secondary school.

Anne has spent 30 years in the retail sector with Clarks Shoes as Area, Regional and Project Manager before changing to Education Management in 2005. Anne joined Standards and School Effectiveness in 2009/10 to lead the Headteacher conference programme and run the business side of the HDC training centre before becoming a school business manager in 2011

Anne has particular experience in relation to the premises managing major projects for the school, a Grade 11 listed building. Anne has bid for money from HCC to replace all the windows and roof (£2.5M), the water main and hot and cold services (£125K), gas main and associated services upgrade (£500k) and planned boiler project replacement (£750K).  A more recent bid to the EFA has resulted in funding for a rebuild of sixth form block which is currently in its feasibility and planning stage.

Anne also has wide experience in simplifying systems, managing diminishing budgets, delivering restructures and redundancy programmes, reviewing potential cost centre reductions and renegotiating contracted services.

Anne’s focus is also now on recruitment which she has had a great deal of experience with in her current school and in the last nine months across Hertfordshire.  She is determined to do everything she can to secure an improved supply of quality teachers for schools and students across Hertfordshire.  This is being achieved by working in partnership with the recruitment steering group and schools to take a holistic approach to recruitment and development of teachers for the future.

Anne completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies in 2007 with the University of Hertfordshire and her Diploma in School Business Management in 2010.

Anne has recently been made a Fellow of the National Association of School Business Managers, an award which formally recognises the contribution made to school business management practice both in school and across a wider audience.
