Ben is an experienced member of the assessment team with an excellent knowledge of issues regarding assessment and works across all phases of education.

Before joining the assessment team, Ben worked in the primary sector, but he has supported schools in all phases of education in developing their assessment practice.

He has worked closely with teachers involved in both the Shirley Clarke Formative Assessment Action Research Project and Hertfordshire’s innovative and successful ‘Learning to Learn’ project which ensures he is at the cutting edge of developments in formative assessment. He has provided support for schools in developing and embedding assessment for learning through INSET, staff meetings and work with individuals.

Ben has an excellent knowledge of RAISEonline and Fischer Family Trust analyses and reports and has supported assessment co-ordinators and senior leaders in their use of these tools to aid self evaluation, school improvement and preparation for Ofsted inspections.

Ben has recently become the President of AAIA (the Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment) and has spoken at a Westminster Education conference on primary assessment.

His training and consultancy visits are always well received, reflecting his ability to make difficult topics accessible to all and show how principles of AfL can be transferred to the classroom with positive impact for both teachers and pupils.
