Prior to joining the assessment team in Autumn 2009, Clare worked as a consultant with the Hertfordshire secondary strategy team and previously worked in the secondary phase as a history specialist and middle leader.

Clare HodgsonA published author, Clare has wide experience of working with teachers in all phases to support and develop their classroom practice and in supporting middle leaders in developing departmental strategies for improvement. Her work with teachers involved in the Shirley Clarke Learning Team, the Learning to Learn Project and lead assessment networks ensures that Clare, along with all members of the assessment team, is up to date with developments in formative assessment practice that have been demonstrated to have a positive impact on teaching and learning.

With a proven track record in providing high quality school improvement, Clare builds strong working relationships with individual schools and staff to build capacity and enable pupils to reach their potential. She has supported secondary, primary and special schools through whole school INSET, staff meetings and work with individuals that have been tailored to the needs and circumstances of those involved. Clare has recently supported schools in developing and assessing literacy across the curriculum, exploring growth mindsets and using ICT to support formative assessment and develop pupil voice.
