As an SBM consultant for Herts for Learning (HfL), Liz provides a broad range of business management support to schools in and around Hertfordshire. As well as undertaking reviews of the administrative and business management functions within schools and offering solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness Liz has been involved in recruitment, reviewing contractual arrangements to improve value for money and also identifying ways to increase income. In addition Liz is the part time SBM in a junior school in South West Hertfordshire. This newly created strategic role ensures that the school is operating to best practice and implementing opportunities to streamline and improve processes and procedures which support the teaching and learning outcomes at the school.

Liz has an MBA (Cranfield) and has achieved the CSBM and DSBM. She is also a qualified chartered secretary and HR professional. In her most recent role Liz worked in a primary school in South West Hertfordshire as the SBM and member of the Leadership team that swiftly moved the school from ‘requires improvement’ to a good school with outstanding features at the last Ofsted inspection. Liz has extensive private sector business experience having previously worked as a city based HR consultant advising clients including: The Treasury, The Strategic Rail Authority, ITV, Sainsbury’s and the Really Useful Group. Previous roles included legal & HR director for Brands Hatch Leisure PLC, company secretary of £100m plus fashion retail businesses and a commercial property negotiator for a large chartered surveyor.

Being a part of HfL’s successful SBM service is an exciting opportunity for Liz to apply her extensive private and public sector experience to support headteachers and governors to achieve excellent outcomes for Hertfordshire’s children. Liz’s expertise includes: HR, financial management, system and process improvement, restructuring, health and safety, premises and facilities management and project management. In addition she has led the review of ICT strategy and the renegotiation of contracts including catering and building contractors.
