For many years, good coaching practice has been associated with high performance, particularly in sports.
Many successful organisations however, are increasingly using coaching to help get the best performance from individuals and their teams.
A qualified coach has the skills and expertise to enable people to get the best from themselves and to realise their potential.
Becoming a coach
In speaking to leaders in education, many have expressed a desire to develop coaching skills for themselves and/or members of their team in order to develop a coaching culture, that is cost effective and sustainable across an organisation.
In response to this, Herts for Learning has developed a unique programme in partnership with Jeff Matthews of The Madison Group to train individuals to develop coaching skills to ILM level 3 or level 5.
Level 3 is a four day programme running over three terms; beginning with a two day introductory skills module, followed by two one-day programmes to support progress and add further advanced coaching skills. The level 5 qualification has an extra 3 ½ days training as well as two days of supervision.
The programme is supported by reading and assignments. Individuals can choose to have these reviewed and assessed and, if successful, will receive a nationally recognised ILM Level 3 or 5 coaching qualification.
Alternatively, there is an option to delay accreditation for up to two years, or to complete the course without accreditation at a lower cost.
The executive coaching service delivered independently by Fresh Think, is tailored to aspiring, new and established leaders. It will refresh and re‑energise their current thinking, support school improvement and advance their career. Fresh Think offers thought-provoking and highly effective coaching sessions to support, challenge and develop leadership at all levels. Remote coaching services are available via Skype and telephone.
Herts for Learning in association with Jeff Matthews of Madison Group is also now offering team coaching for organisations wishing to work together more widely on developing a clear sense of their preferred future or on particular themes requiring wide engagement.
