SIMS support

School IT Systems Support (SITSS) services are provided by Herts for Learning to ensure that schools are making maximum benefit from their investment in SIMS. Many of these services are aligned to producing evidence to support school improvement and the need for demonstrating that every child is achieving to their full potential, by monitoring progress, behaviour, attendance, achievement and interventions.

In addition to their one‑stop‑shop service desk, the SITSS team provides a range of support for SIMS from training courses, bespoke cluster training, remote training for individuals in school and demonstrations at user groups.

Primary

Implementing SIMS Achievement and Behaviour Management
Behaviour Management is part of the SIMS suite of programs to aid the implementation of a school or academy’s behaviour policy in a consistent and efficient way. SIMS functionality allows positive and negative behaviour data to be entered, managed, analysed and reported upon, and ensures student records are comprehensive.

SIMS Assessment Manager
On-site consultancy suitable for assessment coordinators, SLT and data managers, which can be tailored for new members of staff with no previous knowledge, through to experienced data managers who need to progress on to the more complex analysis of data.

SIMS Assessment Manager (AM7)
Primary assessment resources for the new curriculum. SIMS resources, including Assessment Manager templates and SIMS reports, to support schools and academies with tracking and analysing attainment and progress at cohort and vulnerable group level, as well as for individual pupils, have been developed as part of Primary PA Plus.

SIMS health check
A review of a school’s use of SIMS to check the quality of data and to ensure that modules in the software are being used to their full potential. Guidance on processes to improve data quality, and to ensure that SIMS is being used more efficiently and effectively throughout the school or academy will be provided following the health check meeting.

Additional tracking toolkits for Phonic Phases and Reading Progression
For use with AM7, two literacy toolkits are available as value added resources.

  • The Phonic Phases Toolkit allows a school or academy to track pupil progress across phases, as detailed in Letters and Sounds, on a half‑termly basis.
  • The Reading Progression Toolkit allows a school or academy to track pupil progress using the coloured book bands, on a half‑termly basis.
