Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) are employee benefit schemes offered by employers.  They are intended to help employees deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work performance, health and overall wellbeing.  EAPs often include 24-hour telephone support for employees, trauma management, short-term face to face counselling sessions and a selection of wellbeing workshops.

A number of providers operate nationwide and some are set up specifically to cater for the education sector.  Schools in Hertfordshire can obtain a reduced subscription rate to RightCore Care via the Herts County Council Framework: www.thegrid.org.uk/schoolworkforce/wellbeing/employee_assistance.shtml
