Schools are invited to enter up to two teams of four of their Year 5 pupils for this year’s friendly inter-school Herts for Learning Year 5 Mathematics Challenge competition.
The competition gives Year 5 pupils the opportunity to test their mathematics and teamwork skills to solve questions and problems in a friendly competition. Last year’s competition saw the team from Pixmore Junior School claim the trophy after over 220 teams took part during some very challenging times.
Congratulations to the Pixmore Junior School team and all the teams that took part. We are very grateful to everyone who helped to ensure the competition could carry on.
David Cook, Lead Teaching and Learning Adviser (mathematics) at HfL said:
“This year’s competition exemplified the commitment and high teaching standards and aspirations the schools that we work with have for their pupils. We are very grateful and delighted that so many Year 5 pupils managed to take part in last year’s competition and demonstrate such excellent teamwork and mathematics knowledge. The maths team are really looking forward to next year’s competition.”
