Herts for Learning is delighted to inform schools that the University of Hertfordshire is now recruiting for the 8th cohort of its highly successful Maths Specialist Teacher Programme (MaST) starting in the next academic year.
All interested teachers are encouraged to attend the taster session being held on Wednesday 21st November 2018.
The session will take place from 5.00pm-6.00pm at the de Havilland Campus of the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield.
The MaST is delivered by the University of Hertfordshire and run in partnership with Herts for Learning. It is relevant for teachers in Early Years through to Year 6, and those interested in understanding more about the teaching strategies employed across these age phases. The programme is delivered at weekends, so does not require supply cover.
The MaST is part of a nationally recognised programme, and participants will gain masters credits which they may put towards a master’s degree. It aims to develop mathematics teaching and learning throughout the school.
The purpose of this two-year programme is not only to develop the practice of participants, but to transform mathematics teaching across the whole school. It is important, therefore, that participants have the support of the senior management within the school.
Previous MaST cohorts, which have included NQTs, experienced teachers, mathematics subject leaders and Head Teachers, have reviewed the programme in glowing terms, acknowledging the significant difference it has made to their teaching and to the pupils’ learning in mathematics.
