Supersonic Phonics – the new Early Years resource now available on PA Plus

    Published: 21 August 2017

An exciting new phonics resource, created by the Herts for Learning Early Years team, is now available exclusively on your PA Plus subscription.

Supersonic Phonics, is a set of lively, engaging and active phonic activities to help develop early literacy skills. This new resource contains a short video, activity cards to support the selection of activities featured in the video and a range of example phonics planning documents.

The phonic activity cards are in an easy-to-use format that contains all the information practitioners need to structure and organise fun and active phonic sessions as part of their daily teaching.

The cards feature photographs and images to help practitioners visualise the resources required and deliver each activity. Clear instructions are provided to enable practitioners deliver each of the activities, including ideas for extending children’s learning further.

To support the delivery of phonics activities throughout the term or year, a range of planning templates have also been created. These will enable practitioners select the most appropriate template to assist them in organisation of phonics teaching.

Each planning template is accompanied with exemplification to guide the practitioner with the effective use of these tools.

The Herts for Learning Early Years team is committed to ensuring all practitioners use an active approach to phonics across the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Applying an active approach to the delivery phonics teaching not only instantly engages children but keeps them motivated to learn which are clear drivers in raising achievement. We hope that these resources will support practitioners with fantastic ideas to support them with their phonics teaching,” said Lucky Khera, Lead Early Years Adviser.

Watch the Supersonic Phonics video to see a selection of these lively and engaging activities in action and then download the accompanying activity cards and example planning documents through your school’s PA Plus subscription.
