Our conference programme provides development and support for NQTs during their induction period.
Primary NQT (KS1 and KS2) induction conference programme
Providing development and support for NQTs during their induction period, this wide-ranging programme tackles key aspects of induction and promotes good progress against the Teachers’ Standards. Sessions enable NQTs to receive high-quality training, share experiences with other NQTs and explore strategies for managing the pressures of their first year.
Here is an overview of the topics covered, usually one day per term:
Day 1: Managing
- overview of the induction year

- liaising effectively with parents
- working effectively with teaching assistants
Day 2: Developing
- responding to pupils diverse needs
- the interactive classroom
- drama techniques across the curriculum

EYFS NQT – induction conference programme
This popular, interactive and exciting programme run by the Early Years team supports NQTs in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), through a tailor made programme. It consists five full days spread over the academic year.
Special School NQT – induction conference programme
This programme, run by the HfL SEND advisers, consists of three sessions over the academic year.
Day 1 is usually run in the autumn term with the opportunity to focus on broad special school issues including exploring technology with special school pupils.
The following two half days will be tailored to the needs of the group and will draw upon experienced practitioners from special schools.
Subject specific training
We also offer subject specific training for NQTs appropriately targeted to address areas of development and strengthen their practice.
Training for NQT induction tutors – primary, EYFS and special
This is an opportunity for new and experienced induction tutors to be confident of the requirements of the induction period as well as focusing on the tutors role in providing support and challenge for their NQT.
