Under GDPR you are required to complete a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) when your organisation introduces a new process/way of working which may have an impact upon data protection. The DPIA will help you to consider data protection from the outset and manage risk appropriately. These documents contain guidance about the rationale and process for a DPIA along with a suggested example template.
