Resources
The team have also produced a wide range of detailed English resources that completely align with National Curriculum 2014 expectations. These include detailed English plans and planning platforms which support teachers with their daily planning and teaching of writing, as well as assessment criteria and exemplification materials as part of the PA Plus subscription package.
Training and conferences
Our advisers deliver central training and regularly present at national and regional conferences and have contributed articles to a range of educational publications. We also enjoy hosting our own conferences, attracting high-calibre speakers such as Carol-Ann Duffy, Mini Grey, James Clements and Roger McGough.
As a result of working with HfL’s Primary English team, we have an enhanced understanding of the criteria for assessment of Greater Depth and the requirements of Age Related Expectations, in particular with spelling. We have also been supported with managing different groups of pupils within class and shown how to improve spelling with quicker and clearer identification of gaps. The impact on outcomes has been quick and effective and Ofsted commented on the improvement in English within the school.
