ESSENTIALmaths Planning

ESSENTIALmaths learning sequences enable teachers to teach a carefully planned, small-step progression through the maths national curriculum from Reception to Year 6.

The Year 6 planning materials include:

• 36 learning sequences with clear teaching guidance for each small step
• Destination questions (with answers and response guidance) for each sequence
• Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) approach modelling and guidance

ESSENTIALmaths Diagnostic Assessments

The end of summer diagnostic test in arithmetic and reasoning is designed to identify strengths of the class, where fundamental learning has not fully been secured or where common errors or misconceptions need addressing.

The electronic markbook produces forensic diagnostic profiles for individual pupils, groups, or whole classes.

The planning and transition guide, coupled with the multiple-choice format, can be used to inform transition conversations to support children in moving on to secondary school.
