Detailed English Plan – Year 3 – Stella and the Seagull persuasive unit
This focused English plan will support teachers in Year 3 to deliver an interesting and engaging persuasive unit, inspired by Stella and The Seagull by Georgina Stevens & Izzy Burton. The final outcome is a persuasive speech to convince others to buy less single-use plastic. With real purpose to their learning, children will develop reading skills to research and retrieve information from a range of non-fiction texts; writing skills (grammar, vocabulary and organisation) through to developing their spoken language skills. Throughout the unit there are a number of incidental written pieces of work which build to the final speech which the children should find fun as well as informative.
