Focused English Plan – Year 4 – Amazon River Non-Chronological Report Unit
This focused English plan will support teachers in Year 4 to deliver an interesting and engaging non-chronological report unit based on the beautiful non-fiction text ‘Amazon River’ by Sangma Francis and Rômolo D’Hipólito. Covering a range of spoken language, reading (research and retrieval) and writing (grammar, vocabulary and organisation) skills, this plan demonstrates how these aspects of learning can be delivered through engaging and purposeful learning opportunities. Attuning skills in reading non-fiction and writing informatively, children will produce a number of incidental written pieces of work, culminating in a non-chronological report all about the Amazon at the end of the unit.
