This detailed English plan will support teachers in Year 5 to deliver an exciting and engaging unit of work. It is based on a great text, The Promise by Nicola Davies, that allows for exciting opportunities to develop the children’s reading, writing and spoken language and apply across a range of genres. The plan has been carefully crafted to allow children to meet the demands of the Primary English Curriculum. It weaves together the statements from the reading (word reading and comprehension) and writing (transcription, handwriting, composition, VGP and spelling) components of the curriculum, showing how all of these aspects of learning can be addressed through creative learning experiences.
