KS2 guided reading toolkit
This toolkit provides a comprehensive overview of the expectations of the 2014 National Curriculum for reading and includes a range of tools and approaches to support schools in meeting them.
For ease of use, core materials are organised into a section for each year group, containing record sheets for planning and assessment, questioning suggestions, writing tasks and book lists.
Introductory chapters support effective development of reading skills and could be used to guide in-school CPD or work with individual teachers or year groups.
Appendix 1: Frequently Asked Questions addresses queries that arise when schools consider their guided reading practice.
Further appendices on developing comprehension, fluency, and reading aloud to children provide professional development in the teaching of reading.
