Reception ESSENTIALmaths planning
Reception ESSENTIALmaths planning provides teachers with step-by-step teaching to enable children to develop a strong grounding in number, developing the necessary building blocks to excel mathematically.
Each step identifies varied opportunities across the environment for children to build and apply developing understanding. The Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach is embedded throughout, questions are provided and vocabulary is modelled.
Reception ESSENTIALmaths includes learning sequences which develop skills and knowledge within the Early Learning Goals in number and numerical patterns. Reception ESSENTIALmaths also includes rich opportunities for children to develop their spatial reasoning skills across all areas of maths, including shape, space and measure, aligning with the Statutory Educational Programme for Mathematics.
